FC Shakhtar thanks the assistant head coach Miguel Cardoso for the years spent at the club and wishes him every success in his further career
On the last working day, Miguel answered the questions from shakhtar.com.
- Miguel, you’ve spent four years with Shakhtar, what do you make of this experience?
- Four years ago I had the desire to experience a new professional reality abroad, the will to join such wonderful club and the possibility to give my personal contribution to its development that made me take the decision to leave Portugal and become part of Shakhtar family! I'm proud to have represented the Miners since April 2013. Since April 2013 I feel proud to be Shakhtar! This is an incredible four years in Ukraine! A special word for the club president Rinat Akhmetov who with his vision extends Shakhtar through the world. To the board of directors and specially to Sergei Palkin for the trust and permanent support even throughout hard times.
- You started your way as the Academy coordinator in Donetsk ...
- I look back and remember Donetsk and extend wishies of a quick return to our wonderful city and environment. It´s time to remember the work done in the Academy, first year in Donetsk, the year lived in Poltava and the year lived in Schaslyve! Can´t let pass the opportunity to express my thankfulness to all the people I worked with: coaches, administrators, tutors, medical department and all the other staff. Yevhen Chuprun, a word of gratitude for your permanent presence that made my adaptation and life in Ukraine become even easier! For all my assistant coaches on under-21 team my true and deep thank you: Anatolii Skyrchuk, Serhii Kovalyov, Igor Duljaj, Volodymyr Rachevskyi, Volodymyr Savchenko, Borys Tkachov. We all must feel proud when we see players that we developed and promoted being part of 1st team squad: Viktor Kovalenko, Andrii Boriachuk, Viacheslav Tankovskyi, Oleksandr Zubkov and Oleh Kudryk. For all the players I worked with a special thank you: “you are the reason of everything in the game, play it, enjoy it and take out the most you can because football is an incredible sport, and you live in a country where people love it”!
- A year ago you joined the coaching staff of Paulo Fonseca.
- A word for the last year of work on 1st team, the challenge of the arrival of a new coach and the return to the great victories. Great experience to work with such level players and be part of Paulo Fonseca coaching staff. I´m sure successes will continue as high is the quality and the ambition of everybody and the level of support of our fans!
- With what feelings are you leaving Shakhtar?
- It´s time to look forward and perspective new challenges and make more steps in my coach career. One day this step had to be given! We have an expression in Portugal that says “if it´s hard to say goodbye it´s because it was worthy”! The feelings I have now are incredible! A mix of proudness and sadness, I confess! I love Shakhtar, I love Ukraine! I´m so proud I was 4 years part of such family! Thank you! I believe we´ll meet again!
