Last month saw Shakhtar's first competitive games in 2017
In February, the Orange-and-Blacks had eight matches. Most of them were held during the training camp in Portugal, where the team held five meetings and claimed five wins. The season resumed for Shakhtar with the Europa League Round of 32 games vs Celta, Spain, with the Donetsk team claiming a 2-1 Ukrainian League win against Poltava-based Vorskla.
In the last winter month’s meetings, Shakhtar newcomer Gustavo Blanco Leschuk succeeded in proving himself. Goalscoring qualities of the Argentine allowed him to score six goals against the opponents. In a 3-0 win over Olhanense, Portugal, the 25-year-old striker netted a hat trick, marking his official debut for Shakhtar with the only goal in the first leg against Celta.
Shakhtar captain Darijo Srna spent the month to consistently high standards. Thus, in the game against Poltava-based Vorskla, he was named the Pepsi Man of the Match. In the same encounter, Facundo Ferreyra who recently recovered from injury, got himself on the scoresheet. His 90-minute goal brought the Orange-and-Blacks a comeback win. Now the Argentinean boasts 25 goals after his 64 appearances for Shakhtar.
