On March 28, in the framework of the preparation for 2019 UEFA European U21 Championship qualifying games, Ukraine U21 held a friendly match against Serbia U20 team

Serbia U20 1-1 Ukraine U21

Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Oleksandr Zubkov appeared in the Blue-and-Yellows’ starting line-up. In the first half, the opponents exchanged goals. Oleksandr Holovko's men responded to the Serbs’ early goal shortly before the break: Oleksandr Zubkov ripped the opposing defence open with his splitting pass to bring Artem Dovbik through on goal and score one.

In the second half, the Ukrainians looked better and were closer to claiming the win. Zubkov brought danger to the Serbs’ goal many times, with Shakhtar striker Andrii Boriachuk actively joining in the game. The latter could have sent home a corner, but the goalkeeper stopped the attempt. On 80 minutes, the hosts got short-handed, with the score remaining unchanged until the final whistle – 1-1.

We want to remind you that the 2019 UEFA EURO U21 qualifying round starts for Ukraine national team in September with matches against Latvia and Andorra.
