Shakhtar head coach reflects on the meeting with Volyn
- The deserved victory of our team. Today we’ve had a huge number of scoring chances. We turned in a good performance and were patient in the game against the opponents who defended well. We won, but still could have done it with a different scoreline.
- Can you recognise this encounter as the Pitmen’s asset?
- I liked that we’d created many chances. The ball just seemed to be unwilling to find the back of the net. I also believe that Shakhtar performed well emotionally. The boys had the patience while seeking victory.
- Are there any Volyn players whose performance you liked?
- I can say about the whole team instead of individuals. Today was a very difficult match. Volyn, as I’ve mentioned, defended very well. Playing against Shakhtar, the opponents always defend better. The Lutsk side had a really fighting spirit, I could feel it. And we like this game against good, quality opponents.
- Are you satisfied with the result?
- We’ve won and earned three points. For us that’s important. But I think we could’ve got the best of them with a different outcome today.
