Fonseca: I’m proud of the players’ dedication

- Good evening. I think the match was very interesting for the audience. I am proud of my players’ dedication. Almost all of these players rarely appeared on the field during the season, but they worked hard and have shown today what they are really capable of. It was Shakhtar who had the initiative and dominated possession. Chornomorets also created quite dangerous chances, but we managed to cope with that. I consider the victory to be absolutely deserved and I want to repeat that I am really proud of my lads.

- What motivational words did you find before the meeting?
- To play at Shakhtar, you should always have motivation. As I said, those performers were not fielded that often in the course of the season. I think that today they wanted to demonstrate why they are in our team, what they are working for and what they actually are like. This is exactly what motivated them. I understand perfectly well: at such moments there might be some complacency present. Nevertheless, the players never stopped and continued to prove themselves on the pitch, to show that the Pitmen have a strong team who know how to claim wins. Besides, we have great responsibility. If we want people to come to the stadium, we should play some spectacular football. And I see how hard the guys are trying for the fans.
