This day is special for all the fans of the Pitmen
On May 24, 1936, they held the first ever match of Stakhanovets team from Stalino. This very date is considered to be the birthday of Shakhtar Donetsk. And today, the club turns 81!
Shakhtar went all the way from a regional team to becoming one of the best sides in Ukraine and Europe. The Orange-and-Blacks’ collection of awards features 34 trophies: the UEFA Cup, 10 league titles, 11 Cups and 7 Super Cups domestically, 4 Cups and 1 Super Cup of the USSR. But the main achievement over the years is millions of fans in Donetsk, in Ukraine and in the world! Shakhtar became for the fans a symbol of team spirit, belief in success and striving to win.
This season, the club has reclaimed the title of the strongest, having won the historic, tenth championship, and has added another Ukrainian Cup win to this triumph. The golden double has been a welcome gift for every fan.
Congratulations to all those who are united by the orange-and-black colours, on the Donetsk team’s birthday. Shakhtar are the Champions!
