- Miguel, first of all, accept our wishes! Soon, it will be exactly one year since you started working for Paulo Fonseca’s coaching staff. What experience have you gained throughout this spell?
- Working with Paulo is a real pleasure for me. He is a modern specialist with his own philosophy and non-standard ideas, as well as a way with football players. Players and coaches treat him with great respect. For a year, we taught each other a lot being very happy to grab the league title and lift the Ukrainian Cup at the end of the season.

- How different is working with Shakhtar first team compared to training the reserve side?
- Of course, there are significant differences - not only in footballers’ qualification. Here, we focus on the game organization and tactical performance. They pay a lot attention to this component at the Academy; however, coaches are working on the individual development of a player at the same time.

- In your first interview after the appointment to the post of Fonseca’s assistant, you said that one of your main tasks was to adapt Paulo to the specifics of Ukrainian football soonest possible. What difficulties did you face?
- Fonseca came with certain tasks and new ideas. Of course, he had to change many things in order to organize workflow. Therefore, the opening two months were an adaptation time, with not only the coach adapting to the club, but also the club adapting to the coach. Of course, we need to say a big thank you to Shakhtar management, who create all conditions for foreigners to experience as few problems in a new country as possible.

- This is the result of the daily painstaking work of employees, coaches and players. This is a victory in the name of Paulo Fonseca, as he introduced new game principles. It is also the squad's triumph: players accepted the mentor’s ideas and gave their full commitment on the pitch.

- You have already won the first golden double with Shakhtar. What goals do you pursue now?
- I share the dreams of everyone who works in the club: president, head coach and players. After all, Shakhtar have always the most ambitious goals! We work every day to be the best. And we will strive to win all competitions, in which we participate.
