President of FC Shakhtar Donetsk delivered a speech at the gold medal award ceremony
- Dear friends! I am very pleased to meet with you today and congratulate everyone on the championship and on winning the Cup. First of all, I want to express my deep gratitude to the players for their outstanding, spectacular and title-winning performance – thank you, guys! I want to say many thanks to your families, wives, children and parents. They love you, create a warm family comfort, they make you happy. And thanks to that, we’ve got the gold medals.
I want to say a big thank you to the coaching staff with Paulo Fonseca at the helm. He is a young, ambitious and strong coach who knows how to win and likes to win. And most importantly, he has great ideas. His team always delivers some bright, beautiful and attacking performance. Thank you, Paulo, and your assistants.
I want to say a big thank you to all our employees – the whole team of FC Shakhtar, headed by Sergei Palkin. You provide an example of effective management. You are the champions in everything, in all lines.

Today everyone asks me: "What is the dearest and most valuable championship for you – the first one or the tenth?" I want to say that there’s huge work, emotional stress and suffering behind every championship ... And each of them gave me more grey hair. But, frankly, the most important championship for me will be the eleventh one. Our club should look only forward, set the most ambitious goals and claim new trophies for our fans. Thank you!
