On May 27, Shakhtar were awarded the Ukrainian Premier League 2016/17 gold medals in Kyiv

The Ukrainian Premier League president Volodymyr Geninson and Ukrainian Football Federation president Andriy Pavelko participated in a grand ceremony. The ceremony was attended by FC Shakhtar president Rinat Akhmetov and the club’s vice-president Borys Kolesnikov.

- I think this season and Shakhtar's achievements are unique. It is not just because of claiming the tenth title and golden double, but also because Shakhtar have been the core side for our national team, - noted Andriy Pavelko. – To hold all matches away, display wonderful football and win the championship with a huge gap is worth its weight in gold. It is also an indicator of the quality club’s management. The Academy and the youth team performance speaks about performing management at the highest level. We wish Shakhtar success in the new season and victories in European competitions!

After getting the medals, the Orange-and-Blacks received a special award from FFU for the season 2016/17 golden double, with FC Shakhtar president being awarded the Ukrainian Cup winner 2016/17 medal. In conclusion, the Donetsk side had the entire team’s photo taken, as Darijo Srna, Paulo Fonseca and Rinat Akhmetov delivered speeches.
