The Ukraine and Georgia U21 teams held their Euro 2019 qualifiers

Kovalenko in the starting XI

Shakhtar’s midfielder Viktor Kovalenko started in the match against England. The Yellow-and-Blues were on the front foot in the clash with the group toppers, however, they conceded a goal on the stroke of the first third of the first half: Solanke lost his marker and landed a well-placed low shot into the left corner. The British operated as safely as possible in defence, although the 36th minute saw the hosts’ moment of danger: Kovalenko switched the ball to the centre, and Zinchenko blazed it near the post from outside the penalty area.

In the second half, Lukianchuk sliced the ball into his own goal, trying to snag a cross from Gray - 0-2. The Ukrainians attacked until the end of the action, but did not manage to change the score. November 14, Oleksandr Holovko’s men will have a chance to improve the standings in the away match against Scotland.
