Shakhtar U21 team had a test game vs Arsenal-Kyiv to fill the league season break
Both teams fielded experimental line-ups for the game. We want to mention the return of Shakhtar U21 players Yevhen Chahovets and Andrii Zaporoschenko after recovering from injuries. Valeriy Kryventsov’s lads dominated the entire match, which resulted in the final outcome. They could have taken the lead in the early stages, but Putrya failed to convert the spot kick earned by Khachaev, only seeing his attempt hit the crossbar. However, the Orange-and-Blacks excelled midway through the first half, when Roman Ialovenko chipped it over the Kyiv keeper – 1-0. Shortly before the break, the forward scored a brace after getting on the end of a Zinkevych cross sent from the right-hand wing, followed by Illia Putrya’s stunning long-range goal. 3-0 is the first half outcome.
During the break, Valeriy Kryventsov made a number of substitutions, while the fielded substitution players could have given the score a lopsided look. First, Serhii Chobotenko scored after a corner delivery – 4-0. The opponents, also taking advantage of a set piece, pulled one goal back, but immediately missed the fifth one: Topalov raced down the left wing and crossed it into the penalty area, with Artem Dudik flicking it home with one touch – 5-1. Shakhtar continued attacking in different ways, with the same Dudik and Zinkevich being able to score even more goals, but the keeper came to the Gunners’ rescue. However, in the 82nd minute, it was the Volyn pairing who sealed the win: Zinkevich received a long ball and passed it to the teammate, with Dudik sending the ball into the unguarded goal.
6-1 – the Donetsk team confidently defeated Arsenal-Kyiv and are preparing for the U21 League round 16 to play Oleksandriia at home.
