In the U21 Ukrainian league round 13, Shakhtar claimed a 2-0 away win at Dynamo

Evenly matched first half

The Miners started the match more actively than the opponents and could have open the scoring as early as inside opening minutes: after Denys Arendaruk fired a powerful shot from inside the box, it took many efforts for the Kyiv side’s goalkeeper Artur Rudko to palm away the ball from under the bar. Midway through the first half, Dynamo seized the initiative to create half-chances, but the Donetsk side cleverly closed the spaces and tried to hit the hosts on the counters. In the 36th minute, Mykyta Kravchenko ventured on a long-distance kick only to see the goalkeeper of the Orange-and-Blacks Oleh Kudryk producing a confident performance between the sticks. Before going into the break, Viktor Korniienko landed a strike from tight angle to force the Dynamo goalie Rudko into another save. In general, the first half of the clash saw both sides operating in an extremely careful way.

Productive closing stages

In the opening stages of the second half, Valeriy Kryventsov's lads set up a good attacking move. Denys Arendaruk put in a low cross across the goal line, but none of his teammates managed to tap his cross in. Immediately, Shakhtar’s number 11 flicked a threatening effort from around 25 meters only to blaze it just over the bar. With 54 minutes on the clock, one of Shakhtar’s most active players Arendaruk intercepted the ball following a pass from Shaparenko and instigated a rapid attacking move: Dudik sent Hluschuk’s pass goalwards, with Rudko turning the ball behind for a corner. On 60 minutes, the Kyivites were short-handed: Ahmed Alibekov picked up the second yellow card for a foul in the midfield. The Donetsk side brought the game under their complete control, however, it was not easy to carve open the packed defence of the White-and-Blues. Opportunities fell to Arabidze, Ihnatenko and Dudik, nevertheless, the visitors converted their advantage into a 88-minute goal. Denys Arendaruk delivered a cross from the flank into the centre of the goal box, where Dudik appeared first to the ball to make it 1-0. The Orange-and-Blacks did not rest on their laurels and doubled the lead already in stoppage time. Oleksii Zinkevych, who just emerged on the pitch, converted a pass from Oleksandr Pikhalyonok. Shakhtar claim a 2-0 win over Dynamo and continue to lead in the standings.

Valeriy Kryventsov’s side will hold their next match on October 27. As part of round 14, the Miners will host Stal Kamianske in Schaslyve.
