They launched the children's grassroots football project Come On, Let’s Play! in Zelenodolsk, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast on August 10

Dreams сome true

Shakhtar Social has been implementing the Come On, Let’s Play! project in partnership with DTEK who plans to allocate UAH 7.6 million for the development of children's football.  We want to note that the largest thermal power plant in the Oblast, called Kryvorizka, is located a few kilometres away from Zelenodolsk.

More than a hundred kids aged 7 to 12 from the town got the opportunity to play football for free within the project. Training sessions on the synthetic pitch will be held three times a week. Shakhtar Social will provide the children with the necessary equipment, as well as organize tournaments and continue training volunteer coaches.

- I want to express my gratitude for the excellent initiative that has been implemented in our town, - said the Zelenodolsk mayor Andrii Savchenko. - In the places where DTEK operates, the infrastructure develops. We support the Come On, Let’s Play! - this field was built for the project. It's great that our children can fulfil their capabilities.

The DTEK Kryvyi Rih TPP director Serhii Shovhelya:

- Today’s protagonists are children. I can already feel the emotions, and I understand all the participants - we have a real sporting festival! The conditions are excellent here. Our company will continue creating every possibility for both children and adults to understand that we are developing and supporting every undertaking.

Prospects

The development of children's grassroots football in Ukraine is one of the key activities of the non-profit foundation Shakhtar Social. Since 2013, the Come On, Let’s Play! project has been constantly expanding its area of presence and has already gained the national scale. According to the memorandum on co-operation with DTEK and the Lviv Oblast Council, in the near future, it will also cover the settlements in Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk Oblasts.
