Shakhtar manager Paulo Fonseca shared his opinion of the Europa League round of 32 draw outcome
- Paulo, what do you make of the draw outcome?
- We knew from the very beginning that there would be no simple and weak opponents. Everyone taking part in this competition is strong. We got a great German team. It will be a tough encounter with Eintracht, just as, basically, with all German sides.
- Eintracht won all games in their group. Did you pay attention to that result?
- Yes, that’s true. We got the strong opponents, who had won 6 games in their group. Especially, we need to take into account the fact that they thrashed Marseille 4-0, also defeating Lazio 4-1. Those sides probably rank among the best teams in their respective leagues. Therefore, we get prepared for a meeting with the dangerous opponents, whose Europa League performance is self-explanatory.
- Eintracht is another representative of the Bundesliga. Can we compare it with Hoffenheim, Shakhtar’s Champions League group stage opponents?
- It’s difficult to compare, because we haven’t carried out an in-depth analysis of the team so far. Anyway, all the German sides are strong in terms of their transitions from defence to attack, they’re physically strong. But at the moment, it’s hard to liken them to Hoffenheim.
