Shakhtar defender speaks about the holidays, the New Year and the upcoming games vs Roma

- First of all, I want to wish the Shakhtar fans a Happy New Year! I want to wish them good health, patience, peace and, of course, confidence in our team. The holiday is going well. We’ve got enough time to spend with our families and friends. I celebrated the New Year’s Eve in Volnovakha with my wife, the parents, the sisters, with my niece and Dima Topalov, the Shakhtar U21 midfielder. He and I are fellow countrymen.

- What was your wish on the New Year's Eve?
- I really do want us all to return to our home, the Donbass Arena, in 2018. If that happens, it will mean that peace has come, that people will be happy again. I think that many of our fans have this wish.

- Are you keeping fit on holiday?
- Of course! We gather together with my friends and play football. We need to gradually rediscover our form, because we have some challenging training camps and important Champions League matches ahead.

- Did you watch the games involving Roma? What do you make of the opponents?
- Yes, I watched several of their meetings, in particular, the Champions League ones against Chelsea. They really proved themselves. At this stage, there are no weak opponents. Football is constantly progressing, with everyone knowing how to defend expertly. Those teams win who can promptly handle the ball. We are faced with a difficult year, but Shakhtar will keep striving to win every match regardless of the tournament.

We want to remind you that the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 game vs Roma will be held in Kharkiv on February 21, tickets are already on sale.
