The Argentine striker, the team's Top Scorer of the 2017/18 Season Facundo Ferreyra gave an extensive final interview about his spell at the Donetsk club
About the spell at Shakhtar
- At Shakhtar, I got some unique experience. I’m glad that back in 2013 I came here and managed to develop both as a football player and as an individual; I learned the culture of Ukraine, visited many places. I remember that when I arrived, it was hard for me to adapt to things in the new country, the new club, to understand the team’s playing style. I will always have wonderful memories of Donetsk and the Donbass Arena. I’m sure there are no more stadiums like that around the world. I’ll remember the goals I’ve scored in Shakhtar shirt in the European club cups, in the domestic league, the Cup and the Super Cup.
About the president
- We met quite often with Rinat Akhmetov when we resided in Donetsk. The success of Shakhtar is very important for the president. Given the conditions in which the club has existed in recent years, it’s difficult to overestimate his contribution to the development of the team and of the Ukrainian football in general. Rinat Akhmetov continues to give his all to support Shakhtar at a high level. The players are grateful to the president for what he did for us.
About the captain
- Darijo Srna is the emblem, the face and the legend of Shakhtar. He’s done a lot over the years spent in the team. He’s a true captain, the leader showing the way to his teammates, an excellent football player and individual. Darijo always helped me when I asked him, he provided multiple assists, after which I scored goals.
About the fans
- I’m grateful to all Shakhtar fans for their incredible support. I regret that in recent years we haven’t been able to meet at our home, the Donbass Arena, and to enjoy our victories together. The fans know how difficult it is to play away from home, so I want to thank them once again for their support, as well as for their loyalty to the team. Separately, I would like to say a big thank you to the huge Shakhtar family. Few people know the number of staff at the club, and everyone's work is crucial. Here they liked me, treated me well, and I want to thank everyone for that!
