From 1st July on, the Portuguese Jose Boto will be the club scouting department director. The 52-year-old specialist’s contract with Shakhtar is a two-year deal

Previously, Jose Boto headed the scouting unit at Benfica Lisbon for over 10 years.

Sergei Palkin, FC Shakhtar CEO:

- Starting from July 1, Jose Boto is the chief scout of our club. For the recent ten years, he has headed the scouting service of Benfica, laying the foundation for the scouting activity at the Lisbon-based team, and we can perfectly see the results of his work. Over the past few years, Benfica has sold players for half a billion euros, which is indicative of the quality investments. Of course, this work was headed by Jose Boto. The tasks faced by him include searching for the talented players. It’s important that we don’t change our philosophy orientated towards Brazil. Of course, we also watch Europe and Ukraine in particular, along with the other continents. I want to wish Jose good luck in his work so that our scouting unit becomes one of the strongest in Europe.

Jose Boto, FC Shakhtar scouting department director:

- It’s a please for me to join Shakhtar! This is a new, big challenge for me. I know almost everything about the club. The people working in football should know Shakhtar, because that’s a very good club topping the Premier League, and also doing very well in scouting. For me, the most important thing is to help the team to continue winning titles and to be a better club every year. That's exactly why I came here. I hope that next season we will make the supporters happy with our work.
