The Shakhtar newcomer Maycon shares his impressions and expectations after signing a contract with the club
- I'm very happy to be at Shakhtar! Hopefully, I’ll be able to demonstrate my best qualities, to prove myself in the very best way and help the team win as many titles as possible.
- What do you know about the club already?
- Shakhtar are well known in Brazil. There’re many worthy footballers and quite a lot of Brazilians here. I know about the team, about the titles won. And now, after spending a few days at Shakhtar, I’m really delighted. I hope to spend the whole time until the end of the season in the current kind of mood.
- Do you know any of the Brazilians?
- Yes, I know Dodo - we played in the national team together. I also know Dentinho, who used to play at Corinthians, the internationals Taison and Ismaily, along with Marlos for his apps with Sao Paulo, as well as Alan Patrick. Of course, I know those players, because they played in the same league as I did.
- Many Shakhtar's Brazilians made it to the national team and to Europe’s top clubs. Is that a good motivation for you?
- I'm really happy for the players who managed to excel with the Miners and then showcase themselves in the best European leagues and the Brazil national team. But at the moment I'm focused on proving myself at Shakhtar. I want to become successful in this very club. That’s the most important thing so far.
- What do you want to achieve with Shakhtar?
- My biggest dream is to win as many titles as possible. Of course, I’m not gonna hide the fact that I want to win the Champions League – that’s not just mine dream, but also the one of every football player and of every club. That’s what I’ve got in my heart and soul.
- What number have you selected?
- I’ve picked number 8. I had it before, I even have a tattoo - my son on my hand with the number 8.
- What do you know about the club already?
