FC Shakhtar reports: Darijo Srna finishes his spell at the Club. His contract expires on June 30, 2018
Over the 15 years at Shakhtar, Darijo made 536 appearances and scored 49 goals. His brilliant career is a model of high professionalism and boundless devotion to the Club. He made a huge contribution to our history and resounding victories. Aggregately, Darijo won 26 claimed with Shakhtar: the UEFA Cup, 10 league titles, 7 Ukrainian Cups and 8 Super Cups.
Darijo is the legendary Captain, the icon of the present-day Shakhtar and the most decorated player in the history of the Club. He made the most appearances in the orange-black shirt. His love for football, his character, passion, excitement and winning mindset have always been and will always be appreciated and remembered by Shakhtar fans.
Darijo, you are a great Captain! Thank you for those fantastic 15 years, for this beautiful success story, for your love, respect and devotion to Shakhtar. Bravo, the Captain! Thank you, Darijo!

- Darijo Srna is an epoch, he’s the legend, he’s the icon of Shakhtar. Millions of fans like him, the opponents respect him. He’s always been the leader of Shakhtar, and his contribution to the Club development is worthy of the best words and most thunderous applause. But life goes on, and we need to move forward. As a sign of great respect for his services, for the first time in the history of the Club, we’ve decided to withdraw the number 33 from circulation. This is the number of Darijo Srna, forever now. We will definitely arrange for Darijo a game, in which he will once again appear on the field in the Shakhtar shirt. We don’t say good-bye to Darijo, we say see you later to him. I’m sure he will return to Shakhtar and benefit our Club a lot. Thank you, Darijo! Bravo, the Captain!

- Dear friends, I’m leaving Shakhtar. It's hard for me to say these words, but it's true. For 15 years I’ve appeared on the field in the Shakhtar shirt. I appeared to win, I fought for the Club, for the fans, for Donetsk. Those were unforgettable and incredibly happy years in my life. Together with the president of the Club, with the fans, with the Team, with the coaches, we’ve gone a long way writing the history of Shakhtar. I’m proud to have been the Captain of the great Club, that’s a great honour and responsibility for me. Every cup we won, every trophy gave us confidence and strength to go further, to win. And I'm sure the next generations of players will continue to glorify Shakhtar, will bring it many more cups and titles. Everyone playing for Shakhtar must remember that this is a great Club and that it’s a great honour to play for it.
I want to say a huge thank you to the president - Rinat Akhmetov. President, thank you for your faith and support. I owe you a lot in my life. Thanks to all my coaches, the great Mister Lucescu and the ambitious Paulo Fonseca. Owing to you, I was growing and developing as a football player. I want to thank every player I appeared on the pitch with and fought for the honour and glory of Shakhtar! I also want to thank every staff member of the Club!
I’m addressing my final words to our fans. Dear friends, I will always be missing your love and support. I will always remember the roar of the stands at the crowded Donbass Arena, the incredible atmosphere of a fantastic festival that you created at every home game of ours. Thank you, I love you!
