The defender of Shakhtar and Ukraine national team Ivan Ordets told us how his vacation was going, he also summed up the past season results
- Ivan, how’s your holiday going?
- Perfectly well! Initially, I stayed in Kyiv, now we’ve flown over to Turkey. My wife, my little daughter, and the parents are with me here. I’m gradually starting to do some training here: to jog, to carve out abs, to bring the body back into shape.
- You got injured at the end of the season. How are you feeling now?
- Yes, I missed the closing league games due to damage to a foot injury that happened in training. I think I’ll be ready before the training camp.
- In the 2017/18 season, Shakhtar picked up all the trophies in Ukraine, delivered an excellent Champions League performance. Has it been your best football year so far?
- It's really been the best season during my spell here. And in the Champions League we did really well. So this is wonderful!
- Can you name the key encounters or events of the past season?
- This year, I guess, both all the guys and I have experienced many wonderful emotions: the trophies won, our advancement from the Champions League group stage. In my opinion, the core one was our match against Manchester City and, of course, the Ukrainian Cup final against Dynamo. Plus we had many tough league meetings, making our victories even more enjoyable.
- What will the upcoming league season and the Champions League be like, according to you?
- I'm sure the next season will be even harder: the teams are strengthening their squads, there are many young players in the UPL. They give the lads the opportunity to prove themselves, and they justify the trust. Dynamo, Vorskla, Zorya and other clubs, I suppose, will get stronger. Every year it gets tougher because everyone already knows how to defend and attack, so it’s important to conduct a good training camp. We will be ready for the new season!
