Interview with Shakhtar defender Ismaily after the Ukrainian Cup final
- Our congrats on the win! What emotions are you experiencing now?
- It’s always pleasant to win trophies and titles. The finals often turn out to be tough, and we knew perfectly well that it wouldn’t be easy, nevertheless we went through that and now we celebrate the victory, which is the most important thing. The start of the game was difficult: the opponents entered the game better, and we had some difficulties at the very beginning. But still, in the second half, we began showcasing our football, playing at our own pace and scoring two goals. It was very important to impose our game on the opponents and to dominate the match.
- We can feel that with every game you step it up, looking better and better. Is it true?
- Indeed, with each match, with every victory, I feel more confident. I work very hard, and we have a well-organized interplay with Taison and other players - we know perfectly well what we are going to do at any moment, and it always bears fruit.
- We all want to see you at the World Cup ...
- Oh, that's my dream. Of course, I really want to get there as well. But you perfectly understand what kind of competition I face in my role. Let this be another motivation for me to work and achieve this goal. At the club, I succeed at the moment, and I hope this will continue.
- How do you approach the talks about Paulo Fonseca’s future in the team?
- Difficult question. I think that Mister wants to stay at Shakhtar. The negotiations are just underway at the moment, and soon they will lead to a certain decision. It’s clear that some foreign clubs are interested in him because he is doing an excellent job here. But in any case, in the near future, we will learn everything. For us, the most important thing is to win the title at the end of this week and to finalize the season.
