Shakhtar U21 head coach Valeriy Kryventsov and the midfielder Dmytro Kryskiv reflect on the U21 Clasico
Valeriy Kryventsov, head coach:
- Everyone is really upset because we could play and the first half showed that we had acted correctly: we had an advantage, controlled the course of the game, changed our formation correctly both with and without the ball. And in the second half, after conceding a goal, we stopped playing like that for some reason, lacking control and the necessary moves, which was immediately used by the opponents, who seized the initiative and netted two goals. The first goal was scored by Dynamo as a result of our mistake: we allowed them to receive the ball and take a shot at goal, plus the ball took deflection. So, we’ve got to talk about conversion once again. The team created five clear-cut chances and scored only once. Nobody prevented Kulakov from sending the ball home, no one prevented Kryskiv from stopping the ball and asking the keeper about the right corner for scoring. Individual skill of the players decides a lot on the pitch because the play is made up of chances that must be converted. We squandered our opportunities, while the opponents made every use of theirs.
