Shakhtar U19 head coach Andres Carrasco shared his take on the team’s first game
- A good start to the new season and some pleasant sensations when you start it with a victory. It was a great encounter: we dominated it and tried to fully follow the game plan. We had chances to score. I can highlight the high quality of the teamwork - this is the main goal. When there is quality, there is a result. And that means that victories will follow.

- It’s very difficult to predict the behavior of young players in the situation where they appear for the second half as the losing side. There are a lot of very young guys on the roster, who are just integrating into the new system. During the pre-season, we lacked the right reaction to such situations, but today the team have reacted very well. And it pleased me. I left the field in a happy state! Now we are close to the play we want to see. We are facing a very difficult year, but we want to fight and win.
- The team under your leadership have seen no defeats in 27 league games. Is this statistic important to you?
- I will put it as straightforward as this: you can’t compare last season and this one. Every week and every match are different stories. We must go step by step, and time will tell. I do not want to talk about last season - there were a different team and a different story. Those players have already made successful starts for Shakhtar U21, and we are happy for them. We have a different group of players, and they also have got some enormous potential.
