Shakhtar Football Club has extended the deal with striker Junior Moraes until the end of 2021
Moraes became a Shakhtar player in July 2018 and made a great contribution to winning the league title by notching up 19 Premier League goals and winning the scorers race. In the 2018/19 season, he made 39 appearances and netted 26 goals. The forward continues doing his job properly now - he boasts 17 goals in 24 games this season. Aggregately, Junior has 63 apps and 43 goals.
Sergei Palkin, CEO:
“Junior has been the UPL’s top scorer for two consecutive seasons now. Based on the performance results in 2019, he was included in the Ukrainian League dream team. His nose for goal and his readiness to compete single him out, making him one of the best strikers in Ukraine. Moraes is a big professional, and I am sure that in the next two years he will help us win more titles and trophies.”
Junior Moraes, forward:
“Shakhtar is a club with champion essence, so I have been experiencing special moments and the opportunity to extend my contract for another two years to win titles and to be marked in history fascinates me. I am very grateful to all the people who are part of the big Shakhtar family, from our president to the day-to-day workers.”
In March 2019, Junior was granted Ukrainian citizenship and began playing for the national team (5 apps).
