On February 14, Shakhtar and Eintracht held the Europa League round of 32 first leg in Kharkiv
We bring you a few interesting statistical facts about the encounter.
Prolific draw
For Paulo Fonseca, this was a debut draw with Shakhtar in the Europa League (11 games, nine wins, one draw, one defeat, goal difference 28–10). It is noteworthy that the September game vs Hoffenheim in Kharkiv developed similarly. And in February 2014, Fonseca’s Porto finished with the same score their Europa League round of 32 first leg vs Eintracht at home. Marlos converted 11 spot kicks with the Miners, including three shots in European competitions (vs Istanbul Basaksehir, Gent, Eintracht). The right winger has become the best for the number of dribbles (five successful out of eight).

According to Wyscout, the opponents had almost equal possession statistics: 48% vs 52%. In the opening part of the game before the sending-off, Shakhtar’s possession was 74%. Having been left with ten men, the Miners switched to the 4–4–1 formation after Kovalenko dropped into the holding area.
Eintracht shot at goal thrice as much (21/6), with the teams ending up with the equal number of shots on target (4-4), and Shakhtar, unlike the Eagles, in all four cases hit the target from outside the penalty area.

David had 10 rebounds and nine clearances with the minimum number of lost balls, plus both of his sliding tackles were successful. Sergii made nine interceptions and sent the ball into the last third of the pitch more frequently than the others. Kryvtsov will miss the return game in Frankfurt due to suspension.
