On January 19, Brazil U20 had their first South American U20 Championship game
Carlos Amadeu’s men met with the Colombians in Rancagua, Chile.

Shakhtar's winger Marquinhos Cipriano appeared in the starting line-up and played as a wide-left forward. The Brazilians approached the opponents’ goal on a few occasions, without creating any clear-cut chances though. In turn, Los Cafeteros could have opened the scoring before the break but for Walce, who backed the goalkeeper by heading the ball away from the unguarded net.
The draw
Early in the second half, the Colombians had two excellent chances - Walce and Phelipe saved the Seleсao from a goal. In response, the right-back Emerson produced a powerful shot over the crossbar. Brazilians could well snatch victory in stoppage time. In the 90th minute, Cipriano was replaced by Jonas Toro, with the latter earning a free-kick shortly afterwards and with Igor Gomes stepping up just to hit the crossbar.
The outcome is 0-0. Brazil kicked off with a draw and will play against Venezuela on the night of January 22.
