Shakhtar U14, U15, U16, and U17 became the 2018/19 Champions of Ukraine

For the first time ever, all four teams have won the DUFL premiership in one season.

Progress and result

In July 2017, an Argentine Jorge Raffo became the director of the FC Shakhtar Academy. Over the past two seasons, the teams won seven of eight possible championships:

U17 - 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2018, 2019
U16 - 2002, 2004, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2019
U15 - 2006, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2018, 2019
U14 - 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019

Most of the young students of the Shakhtar Academy have become the DUFL champions in the second age group this season:

Shakhtar 2005 (U14) - first-time champions
Shakhtar 2004 (U15) - champions for the second year in a row
Shakhtar 2003 (U16) - champions for the second year in a row
Shakhtar 2002 (U17) - became champions in 2016 as part of the U14 team

We want to point out that Henadii Zubov, Oleksandr Alimov, Oscar Ratulutra, Dmytro Yefymov, and Stanyslav Dyachenko have been working at the Shakhtar Academy for many years and have already achieved success with their players, while Oleksandr Sytnyk, Oleksandr Maksymov, and Volodymyr Samborskyi have won the season with the Miners for the first time.
A dream come true! With this victory, we have entered the club history. We are very pleased with the job we did, which demonstrates our excellent prospects: the club has a huge number of players, and they will grab the headlines in the future
Jorge Raffo, FC Shakhtar Academy Director:

- This kind of success is a great joy for all of us and some inexpressible emotions! We can say that the dream that we had from the very beginning has come true. With this victory, we have entered the club history. We are very pleased with the job we did, which demonstrates our excellent prospects: the club has a huge number of players, and they will grab the headlines in the future. The generation of players born in 2002 to 2006 is coming, which will make our club even stronger. Now, we dream to see many of those guys in Shakhtar’s senior team.

- How did you manage to achieve such results?
- We worked based on a specific and clearly defined plan. First of all, I want to mention the club management headed by the CEO Sergei Palkin, who believed and always supported us. I also want to mention the scouting service who have been in constant search and changed 90 of the 130 players at the Academy now. Naturally, credit also goes to a group of coaches who showed real professionalism and made great efforts to prepare the players. And, most importantly, the players themselves: they tried really hard, they worked hard in training, and achieved a fantastic result in the end. After all, we didn’t just mine four sets of gold medals, three teams of ours were invincible throughout the championship. We also remember that Shakhtar U19 had a great season, the best one in their history, even despite the fact that they didn’t become the champions. And five more young players of the club became world champions with the national team of Ukraine - and that’s also very important. We all worked hard to ensure that these generations of footballers are at the level of the likes of Shakhtar and that our Academy becomes the best one in Ukraine and one of the strongest in Europe.
