In Chervonohrad, Lviv Oblast, they opened the second ground of the Come On, Let’s Play! project
The social project for the development of children's grassroots football is being implemented by the Shakhtar Social foundation in partnership with DTEK.
Football in the mining town
Chervonohrad joined the Come On, Let’s Play! towns and cities in September 2018, expanding to two pitches nine months later. The new ground is located at the school No. 8.
- We support the project because we are confident that our future is being created today. The grassroots football is useful for the child’s sporting and social development, - pointed out Stepan Voichuk, the manager of DTEK Dobrotvorska TPP for interaction with local authorities. - Last year, we allocated UAH 7.6 million for the development of the Come On, Let’s Play project, and this year, we will add another 7 million. A large number of children involved in the project is the best proof of the fact that we are on the right track.
A training session for the guys was held by the Shakhtar Academy coach Dmytro Yefymov, they also held various contests and a friendly match. In total, about 80 boys and girls will be training at this ground. The Shakhtar Social foundation provided the participants with balls, pumps, bibs, goal nets and first-aid kits.
- Recently, Ukraine U20 became the world champions. There are five Shakhtar players in it who raised the most important cup in youth football. The more such grounds we have across the country, the better. I’m sure that thanks to the Come On, Let’s Play! project, we can produce a whole generation of healthy children with football in their lives, - said Dmytro Yefymov.
We want to mention that in 2019, the project area expanded to 23 settlements in Ukraine. As part of the Come On, Let’s Play!, three thousand children aged 7 to 12 play football.
