On July 5, two title-winning teams met in Austria
Shakhtar held two test games during one day and, after drawing with the German Uerdingen 05, they defeated the Danish Copenhagen.
All goals in the first half
As the Orange-and-Blacks’ manager Luis Castro mentioned after the afternoon friendly, an important thing in the team’s current preparation stage is the fact that the footballers start playing for 90 minutes. This allows them to evenly distribute the workload among all of them. Therefore, the starting line-up for the evening clash was fully different from the players who started the match vs Uerdingen 05.
Shakhtar played great in the first half. Their being active in the opening stages embodied in several dangerous chances. As early as in the 4th minute, Dodo rushed towards the box and fed Solomon, with the ball hitting the crossbar off the pitch surface. Later, Marlos produced a pretty good shot from outside the penalty area. Shortly after that, the ball naturally ended up in the Danes’ goal: Marlos and Moraes left the entire Copenhagen defence behind, with the striker sending a left-footer right home. Less than five minutes later, Junior scored a brace: Alan Patrick did his best to successfully finish his attempt – 2-0. In the 37th minute, the goalkeeper Grytebust, who a couple of years ago had conceded Taison’s brace in the Odense team, parried away the captain’s free-kick cannon shot. Then, Copenhagen pulled one back: Holse waylaid a player to send one home.
Gaining momentum
After the break, the pace slowed down a bit, as well as the general sharpness. The pace of the game was also affected by substitutions, which were often made by Stale Solbakken. Luis Castro again gave Trubin thirty minutes in the goal, fielding Butko, Kovalenko, and Blanco Leschuk towards the end of the game. The latter two players took part in the most dangerous episode in the second half. In the 87th minute, Taison played one-two with Marlos and fed Gustavo, with the defender beating him, and the onrushing Viktor struck into the near corner only to see Joronen turn the ball into the post. Interestingly, in the first match today, Shakhtar also hit the post and the crossbar once.
