Ukraine U20 won the FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland

In the final, the Yellow-Blues met with the national team of South Korea.

Three Shakhtar players appeared in Ukraine’s starting line-up: the defenders Valerii Bondar, Yukhym Konoplia, and Viktor Korniienko. The game started for our team not optimally: as early as in the 5th minute, the opponents earned spot-kick, with Lee Kang-in put the Koreans in front. However, Oleksandr Petrakov’s young men showed character and equalised by the end of the first half - in the 34th minute, Vladyslav Supryaha netted one from outside the penalty area.

After the break, the Yellow-Blues took the lead: in the 52nd minute, Konoplia excellently sent a splitting pass through the Korean defensive third and put Supryaha through on goal, with the latter confidently beating the goalkeeper – 2-1. During the second half, two more Miners appeared on the pitch: Maksym Chekh, and Oleksii Kaschuk. The Ukrainians easily restrained the opponents, and late in the game they conducted a counterattack which was finished off by Heorhii Tsitaishvili’s precision strike into the bottom corner of the net.

3-1 - for the first time in history, Ukraine’s national team have become the World Cup Winners!
