On March 18, Opera Hotel hosted the final of the accelerator of sports projects that was organized by the Football Club Shakhtar in partnership with HYPE Sports Innovation

Initially, out of more than 100 applicants, they selected 22 participants, who had presented their projects in the autumn. The 10 most interesting startups from Ukraine, USA, Canada, Kazakhstan, and Belarus advanced to the second stage, with their representatives attending a four-months’ special training programme delivered by the world's leading speakers in the field of sports and innovation.

On March 18, 10 finalists have presented the updated projects to the judging panel including the senior executives of FC Shakhtar, the leaders of HYPE Sports Innovation, along with the official representative of LaLiga, Daniel Serehido.

Having carefully studied all the startups, the experts selected the winners. The prize for the greatest progress was awarded to the PlaySeek project - a tool motivating people to lead healthy lifestyles, encouraging sports, making people members of the largest sports community in the world, organizing tournaments and championships for the participants.

- This is a very interesting and rewarding experience because it’s not every day that you manage to communicate with such industry leaders as the representatives of UEFA, Nike, Reebok, Adidas, and other international sports brands! Presentations, seminars, workshops were held every week, which helped us make the project even better and stronger, - the PlaySeek inventor Illia Myasnikov shares his impressions.
The HeartIn project, which offers a new approach to analyzing an athlete's health data
The HeartIn project, which offers a new approach to analyzing an athlete's health data. A plain-looking shirt without wires and other unnecessary elements, can collect data and make forecasts about the health of its users. The FC Shakhtar got interested in this item and offered the company an option for cooperation.

- Participation in the accelerator not only helped us to improve the product but also gave us a chance to fulfil ourselves in the sports industry, to work together with FC Shakhtar, - says the representative of HeartIn Oleksii Levenko. - The idea of the project is that all the players wear our shirts in training to monitor the heartbeat under various workloads. Thus, it is possible to determine which mode is suitable for each specific player and to understand who has a predisposition for heart diseases in order to prevent them in a timely manner.

Three more startups will get a pilot version of cooperation with Shakhtar:

- the FastServe programme, which allows to deliver food and drinks by courier directly to the viewer at the stadium during the match;
- a social platform for fans called FanBuster providing accurate and up-to-date information about the club’s activities, promotions, events, and other things;
- blockchain-platform SportsD2, where clubs and athletes can cooperate directly.
The joint accelerator with the football club Shakhtar turned out to be a unique event in this sense. We tried to collect the best, most interesting projects from different countries, we organized a very important bootcamp for the participants, and then conducted a 16-week acceleration programme involving top speakers from the world of sports
- Ukraine has a huge innovative potential that only needs to be streamlined in the right direction and given the opportunity to develop, to bring the result. The joint accelerator with the football club Shakhtar turned out to be a unique event in this sense. We tried to collect the best, most interesting projects from different countries, we organized a very important bootcamp for the participants, and then conducted a 16-week acceleration programme involving top speakers from the world of sports, - the HYPE Sports Innovation representative Nir Ben-Lavi sums up the programme. - During this time, all 10 startups have grown incredibly and reached a whole new level. The desire of FC Shakhtar to develop sports technologies in Ukraine played a huge role in that. Now, four startups will be able to try out their solutions on the base of the club, which is incredibly important, because after successful cooperation with such a great club, these projects will enjoy open doors throughout the sporting Europe.

The programme winner will receive a place at the largest exhibition of sports startups during the FIFA Women's World Cup France in Lyon, France. Separately, we want to highlight the youngest participant in the project accelerator, the 15-year-old Mykhailo Teleshko, who has introduced a device for automatic detection of offside situations. He will receive from HYPE Sports Innovation 50 hours of mentoring sessions with the best speakers in the world of sports.
