Shakhtar U19 met with Volyn U19 in the Youth League round 11

The Miners with 24 points share leadership in the league, while the Lutsk side (19 points) sit in the sixth spot. Andres Carrasco made several changes in comparison with the previous match, fielding in the starting line-up defenders Roman Shysh and Dmytro Avdeev, halfback Illia Hulko, and striker Danylo Honcharuk.

The mined advantage

The first half saw a significant advantage of Shakhtar players who dominated possession and constantly kept the opponents’ defence in suspense. The Miners’ opening onslaught quickly brought results: Abdullaiev received a pass from Kobylianskyi, beat the defender and, having lured the goalkeeper out of the goal area, passed the ball to Heorhii Sudakov who rolled it into the unguarded goal – 0-1. Even before the break, Abdullaiev could have doubled the score himself, with the referee disputably interrupting both of his one-on-one challenges by blowing the whistle for offside. Late in the first half, Mykyta Turbaievskyi rescued the Orange-and-Blacks on a couple of occasions by parrying away a dangerous attempt making a great save while rushing out.

Abdullaiev’s back in business

The early stages of the second half also saw the full advantage of Andres Carrasco’s outfit who scored two more goals within ten minutes. Moreover, both goals belong to the league’s top scorer Abdulla Abdullaiev. First, the striker successfully finished off Sudakov’s cross from the right flank (0-2), and then, getting a subtle pass from Heorhii, he found himself one-on-one and confidently flicked it past Harapa (0-3). Retaining the initiative, the visitors created a few more great chances. Abdullaiev again found himself one on one with the keeper, beat the latter, but somehow failed to hit the back of the unguarded net. Substitute Bohdan Svityukha raced past two opponents and was brought down in the penalty area, with the referee not pointing to the spot. Sudakov could have grabbed a brace as well, although his attempt hit the post, with the scoreline remaining unchanged.

3-0 - Shakhtar U19 defeated Volyn U19. On November 6, the Miners will have an away game vs Dinamo Zagreb U19 in the UEFA Youth League round four (it kicks off at 14:00).
