In the U21 League round 10, Shakhtar defeated Dnipro-1 away
In comparison with the previous match, Fernando Valente made four changes in the starting line-up. Semenikhin and Cipriano played instead of the defenders Muravskyi and Pavlish respectively, with Bondarenko taking up Hurov’s role in midfield, and with Boriachuk replacing Sikan as an attacking spearhead.
Early goal
Dnipro-1 got off to a more active start and conducted several attacks. Shakhtar counterattacked and quickly succeeded. In the 9th minute, the host lost the ball in midfield that was promptly picked by Ocheretko who brought Mudryk one on one with the opposing goalkeeper through a splitting pass. Mykhailo masterfully read the play and lobbed the ball over Znovenko, making it 0-1. Shakhtar seized the initiative and had several more chances to double the advantage. In the 18th minute, after receiving Mudryk’s pass, Bondarenko made an attempt at goal and hit the post, and a minute later Boriachuk scored a goal that was unruled by the officials due to the player being offside while scoring it. The second goal happened in the 35th minute: Romanyuk fouled on Mudryk on the flank, with Mudryk playing a free-kick himself for the unmarked Prykhodko to send it home. Klym sent the goalkeeper the wrong way and doubled Shakhtar's lead. Making it 0-2. Late in the first half, heavy rain made the pitch wet, with neither side being able to create any dangerous chances.
Demolition job in the rain
In the second half, it was hard to play, with the rain not stopping even for a second. But even in those conditions, Shakhtar developed their success. In the 61st minute, the hosts fouled in their own penalty area, with the Miners being awarded with a spot-kick. The verdict was clearly executed by Boriachuk. In the 90th minute, Dnipro-1 remained short-handed, with Holod completing the demolition job through a free-kick goal – 0-4.
Shakhtar confidently defeated Dnipro-1, preparing for the next match now. On October 17, in Shchaslyve, the Orange-and-Blacks will host Kolos.
