Shakhtar U21 captain Dmytro Kryskiv told about his life during quarantine, the team’s online training sessions, and his new hobbies
- Dmytro, how do you spend your time while in quarantine? Did you miss football?
- Yes, it’s not easy without football ... Our only delight is the fact that we train three times a week: we gather the whole team via video conferencing and conduct our sessions under the supervision of the coaching staff. Also, on weekdays, those train who have the opportunity to do some running work. Of course, this can’t replace our usual workload, but it still allows us to stay active fitness wise. I’m sure that every player takes care of himself, and we didn’t lose much of our form over a month. We don’t know how long the quarantine will last, but I guess that two to three weeks will be enough for us to rediscover the form after the season resumes.
- What have you got more time for now? Maybe for tactical sessions ...
- Yes, Fernando is the kind of coach who always comes up with something interesting and useful for us. At the very beginning of the quarantine, we had theory sessions involving the online analysis of our previous games: the whole team watched those games, we analyzed our errors. And now he sends us individual analysis files highlighting the strengths and weaknesses. This kind of analysis is really important for young football players.
- What new things have you discovered recently, any new hobbies?
- Over this month I’ve learnt some English, I also watched many films and TV shows - probably, the whole Netflix. We play video games with the guys - we played Counter-Strike previously, and now we play PUBG more frequently.
- What advice can you give the fans in this difficult time?
- The most important thing is to take care of yourself and your loved ones, to observe quarantine. If you miss football, the Shakhtar TV channel has started broadcasting, so you can watch matches there and recall some pleasant moments. Plus, of course, everyone needs to be patient and wait for football to be back.
