We are summing up Shakhtar's interim performance in the first part of the 2020/21 season
Luis Castro's men have had 19 competitive games in all competitions, claiming nine wins, drawing seven times and suffering three defeats. Aggregately, they scored 36 goals and conceded 26 ones.
European campaign
In the Champions League, the Orange-and-Blacks have two wins, two draws and two defeats. The UCL performance results have been like that for the second time in Shakhtar's history. In a similar way, everything turned out only back the 2013/14 season in the group involving Manchester United, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Real Sociedad. Back then, the Donetsk team beat the Spaniards twice in the 1st and 5th rounds, just like in the case of Real Madrid this time.
Championship
In the current UPL campaign, the Miners have 13 rounds behind them. Shakhtar is the only unbeaten club this season, having had five draws and lost 10 points. For comparison: in the 2008/09 season, within the same league period, the Miners lost twice as many points (20), eight in 2009, 10 in 2013, 11 in 2014, seven in 2017.
At the same time, the gap between them and the leaders is minimal for now. Plus they have extended the winning streak in the meetings with Dynamo which began with the arrival of Luis Castro - they extended it to five Clasico wins (2-1, 1-0, 3-1, 3-2, 3-0). They enjoyed the same run from 2012 to 2014 (2-0, 3-1, 2-1, 3-1, 2-0).
Popular score
A 1-1 draw was recorded on three occasions at once - in the matches vs Rukh, Vorskla and Oleksandriia. The victories include two 2-0 wins (vs Olimpik and Real Madrid) and two 5-1 wins (vs Lviv and Minaj).
Forced restrictions
Out of 19 games this season, only four were played with crowds present - the away ones vs Zorya (2,482 spectators), vs Rukh (7,983), vs Desna (1,300) and the home game vs Inter (10,178).
