On February 8, the Orange-and-Blacks had their penultimate friendly at the winter training camp Belek

The opponents were the Slovenian League silver medalists Olimpija of Ljubljana.

Vitao played at right-back

Luis Castro split the players’ workload either side of the break. Since Dodo is currently with Brazil’s Olympic team, and Ihor Kiryukhantsev is recovering from an injury, Vitao played at right-back from the off, with Serhii Bolbat appearing in the second half of the game. We want to mention that this is the first time the Brazilians take part in the test games during the winter break.

Olimpija defended in an organized manner and coped with Shakhtar’s every attack. Some quality passes by Taison and Marlos reached the other players, the goalkeeper Neitz Widmar successfully backed his teammates. The Slovenians missed their best chance in the 21st minute, when Savic played one-two with Valencic, then burst into the penalty area and missed the far corner, though they scored from a free-kick soon - Vukusic scored a goal. Before the break, the Orange-and-Blacks had a chance to equalize, but Fernando failed to send home Ismaily’s pass.

3 goals in 10 minutes

Shakhtar spent the second half with a different squad and finished off the opponents in the final 10 minutes, although before that there were plenty of good approaches and attempts at Olimpija’s goal. Moraes completed the completed a move involving Patrick and Konoplyanka, Kovalenko struck from outside the penalty box, with Marcos Antonio hitting the top corner of the net from long range - Vidmar coped with every attempt. In general, Konoplyanka and Patrick participated in most of the attacking situations, and it was they who built up for the first goal - the Brazilian slipped away from the defender after receiving the Ukrainian’s pass,  then he sent the ball over the keeper in style and equalized. Toward the end of the game, Yevhen earned a free-kick and, albeit not without rebound, fired it into the left corner. And Moraes sealed the win  - he just tricked Gaic and sent the ball to the far post, making it 3-1.

The Turkish training camp is reaching the final straight. Luis Castro’s men have just one game left – vs Ventspils - it will kick off at 9:00 on February 9. The live stream will be available to all the registered users of shakhtar.com.
