Shakhtar hosted Kolos in the Premier League round 31

In the remaining league games, the Miners have continued their staffing experiments. Today, Luis Castro has fielded, perhaps, the youngest lineup this season: Trubin stood between the sticks with a captain's armband on, Cipriano and Vakula played as fullbacks, Pikhalyonok operated in the holding area, Mudryk played as a left midfielder, and Sikan appeared as the central striker. The more experienced Khocholava and Taison backed up the starting XI.

Wasted chances half

From the off, the Orange-and-Blacks tried to act as aggressively as possible in the attacking third, with the teammates twice bringing Sikan on goal early in the game: in the first case the Kovalivka defender stopped the attempt, and in the second occasion the tight-angle shot went wide. Immediately after that, Vakula tested his long-range shot only to see it go wide. Marcos Antonio had an excellent opportunity, however, the Brazilian faield to convert it in a one-on-one situation and hit Kucherenko's leg. Kolos responded with then attempts by Morozko and Bondarenko, with both of them being unsuccessful. Before the break, the birthday boy Maycon earned a dangerous free-kick and converted it himself only to see it go high. A minute later, Anatolii Trubin rescued the hosts by saving the visitors’ only attempt on target in the first half.

Marquinhos’ first goal and Junior’s 20th

At the very beginning of the second half, Shakhtar went in front. Cipriano joined in the attack, received the ball in the penalty area from Marcos and rolled it right into the lower left corner after beating two opponents, making it 1-0. The Kovalivka outift could have immediately equalized (had Bondarenko not headed it just inches off the post, plus Trubin parried away Morozko’s cannon shot. Meanwhile, the Miners had the opportunity to extend the lead (Sikan beat Kucherenko in the penalty box, but failed to land a shot after entering the goal area). In the 63rd minute, Luis Castro made a group substitution and fielded as many as four fresh players into the battle: Marlos, Patrick, Solomon and Moraes. At the same time, in the second half the playing pace dropped significantly, with the dangerous chances nearly disappearing. We can only mention the flank deliveries from Vakula and Marlos that missed a finishing touch, along with the episode when Taison was bringing Moraes through on goal: the striker fell down after his collision with Yefremov, but the referee kept his whistle silent. In the stoppage time, the Orange-and-Blacks still sealed the win in style: Marlos brilliantly fed Junior who confidently beat the goalkeeper.

2-0 - Shakhtar won the game against Kolos, with Moraes scoring his 20th goal this UPL season.

The team of Luis Castro will have the final match in the 2019/20 Championship vs Oleksandriia on July 19. It kicks off at 19:30.
