We recall the Miners’ most memorable away games vs the Kyiv team

07/04/2001. Dynamo 1-2 Shakhtar

Throughout the Championship, Dynamo and Shakhtar have gone nearly neck-and-neck. And before the head-to-head game, the White-Blues were 2 points clear of the Orange-Blacks, although Viktor Prokopenko’s outift did their best to bring the first set of gold medals closer. By the half-time break, Dynamo went in front when, in the 17th minute, Oleksandr Melashchenko rolled the ball into the goal of Yurii Virt. However, in the second half, the visitors turned the game in their favour literally in 3 minutes. The score was levelled by the Nigerian Julius Aghahowa (50’), and then the Senegalese Assane Ndiaye scored the winning goal (53’). 2-1 – Shakhtar’s strong-willed historical triumph in the capital of Ukraine.

10/05/2006. Dynamo 2-2 Shakhtar

This season is unique because the UPL winners were decided in the so-called Golden Match, because the leaders approached the final round with the same number of points - 74 each. The Kyivans were full of desire to decide the future of the league title on their field. Already in the first half, the hosts made a weighty bid for success by making it 2-0 (Shatskykh, 10’, Milevskyi, 21’), but after the break Shakhtar showed their mettle and improved the situation. The visitors initially converted a corner-kick (Srna delivered it, and Chygrynskyy sent it home), with Jadson setting the final score of 2-2. A few days later, in Kryvyi Rih, the Miners defeated the Kyiv outfit in the Golden Match  (2-1) and celebrated the club’s 70th foundation anniversary with a victory!

16/04/2014. Dynamo 0-2 Shakhtar

At that time, the challengers of Shakhtar and Dynamo were Dnipro and Metalist. Toward the end of the Championship, the title race unfolded between Shakhtar and Dnipro who could gain not only strategic, but also psychological advantage before the home straight in case of Shakhtar losing points. But thanks to Luiz Adriano’s double (10’, 33’), the team of Mircea Lucescu mined the crucial points and caught up with Dnipro in the standings as early as in the first half.

 16/10/2015. Dynamo 0-3 Shakhtar

This is the biggest away victory of the Orange—and-Blacks in Kyiv that allowed them to go clear of the White-Blues in the table. Late in the first half, the Bernard-Marlos pairing was successful. The first player crossed it to the goal area, and the second one volleyed it just home, making it 1-0. After the break, Alex Teixeira - spending his last season in a Shakhtar shirt - grabbed a brace (59’, 67’). Initially, Alex showed off his scoring flair by being the first on the ball and later converting Gladkyy’s pass.

12/12/2016. Dynamo 3-4 Shakhtar

In the 2016/17 season, the Orange-and-Blacks claimed 2 straight away victories over Dynamo (4-3 and 1-0), which largely predetermined their championship. Especially intense was the first match, in which the audience saw as many as 7 goals in a row. This game is one-off due to the fact that the host defender Yevhen Khacheridi netted two own goals. The Kyiv side were leading 2-1 in the first half, though after the break Shakhtar not only equalised, but also claimed a come-from-behind victory. Besides Khacheridi, Fred and Ferreyra netted goals against the White-and-Blues.
