Shakhtar midfielder Manor Solomon spoke about his birthday, the tradition of congratulating players in Israel, the successful season completion and the immediate goals in an interview to shakhtar.com
- Happy Birthday, Manor! How are you feeling?
- Thank you very much. I’m feeling great! Another year, another birthday at Shakhtar. I hope only for the best for me and for the club!
- You resumed running work. Is everything well?
- Well, in the last game I felt a little bit my hamstring. But just in two or three days I’m gonna come back to the team. I feel very good.
- How did the team congratulate you?
- The guys just came to me, sang a congratulatory song and told me ‘mazel tov’ in Hebrew.
- Maybe in Israel you have some tradition of congratulating football players?
- Yes. The players usually make two lines, with the birthday boy passing between them and getting some congratulatory slaps. Something like ‘glory lines’. Plus a cake, just normal things like that.
- In the final part of the season, you were one of the best players: two goals, three assists in the last four games ... What can you say about this period?
- I’m really glad to have finished the league season this way, because I was absent for a long time due to injury just after the winter break. And then came corona. I'm really happy to be back and I feel good. I always try to help the team to reach their goals.
- This is your first full season at Shakhtar. How would you describe it?
- It was very long and weird for me, for Shakhtar, and indeed for football in general. I think we had a great season - both in the league and in the Champions League, plus now in the Europa League. It was a challenging season for me. I had some great moments that I will remember all my life. And I just can’t wait for what the next season brings!
