FC Shakhtar jointly with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation will provide hospitals in the Kharkiv region with 10 mechanical ventilation units

By decision of the club president Rinat Akhmetov, they will give 10 mechanical ventilators to the state hospitals in Kharkiv Oblast. The equipment will be supplied to the medical facilities in several lots in April.

Rinat Akhmetov has allocated UAH 300 million for tackling the COVID-19 pandemic. For this purpose, he combined the resources of the Charitable Foundation, FC Shakhtar, businesses of DTEK, Metinvest and other SCM assets.

“In the tough time faced by everyone, it’s necessary to find strength and resources to help those in need. The club together with the Foundation will send 10 ventilators to the Kharkiv region. We hope that this equipment will be effectively used in fighting the coronavirus epidemic in the city and in the Oblast,” the FC Shakhtar CEO Sergei Palkin stated.

“Rinat Akhmetov was the first to come to the rescue of Ukraine when it faced the coronavirus epidemic. In the shortest possible time, they have purchased more than 300,000 rapid tests and at least 200 mechanical ventilation devices for the whole country. This is a standalone major challenge. Indeed, about 200 countries around the world are currently hunting for this kind of equipment. The Foundation has already fulfilled this task. The equipment has been purchased and will be shipped in lots to Ukraine in April,” said Natalya Yemchenko, a member of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation supervisory board.

We want to remind you that a total of 320 thousand rapid tests for detecting the coronavirus, personal protection gear for healthcare staff and at least 200 mechanical ventilators will be purchased for state hospitals. Also, it was previously stated that 50 ventilators would go to hospitals in the Donetsk region.
