With football currently on hiatus, we invite you to recall all of Shakhtar's title-winning seasons together
In the 2012/13 Championship, the Miners won their 8th set of gold medals, getting 13 points clear of the second-spot side and setting a personal performance record.
Strong squad
The Orange-and-Blacks spent the summer transfer window in an unusually calm way. The team to have won 3 titles in a row clearly did not need any major strengthening because all the players in that squad were at the top of their form, with the necessary competition being ensured by the young players. We want to highlight only two transfers: the promising goalkeeper Anton Kanibolotskyi moved from Dnipro (he would make 9 apps), and the goalscorer Marko Devic was signed up from Metalist (he would net 4 goals in 12 games).

A year on top
Shakhtar opened the season with a Ukrainian Super Cup victory, then making the most powerful start in the UPL history. Mircea Lucescu’s men won all 15 (!) games in the first stage with an aggregate goal difference of 45-6. This said, the Miners secured 8 major victories. The main clash of the autumn was, of course, the Ukrainian Clasico. The meeting with Dynamo in the 8th round set a new attendance record of 53,423 at the Donbass Arena. The hosts claimed a spectacular and confident 3-1 win (Kucher - 20’, 62’; Luiz Adriano - 81’; Yarmolenko - 45’).
In the winter, the club set another transfer record. Willian joined Anji for EUR 35 million. He was replaced by another prodigiously talented Brazilian Taison, and in February they signed up a young defender Ismaily (he did not prove himself during the first year, later becoming one of the long-standing leaders).

Record lead
In the spring, the Orange-and-Blacks extended their winning streak: they demolished Volyn (4-1), Chornomorets (3-0) and Zorya (3-0), they defeated Dynamo Kyiv (2-1) again. Having secured a double-digit lead, the Donetsk team claimed the title 4 rounds away from the season end.
The final standings saw the huge advantage of Shakhtar over their competitors and a record lead of 13 points over the silver medalists Metalist. They also set a personal scoring record of 82 goals. And in May, the Miners raised the Ukrainian Cup by thrashing Chornomorets in the final (3-0) and securing another golden treble after winning all 3 Ukrainian competitions.

Heroes of the season
The most outstanding league player was Shakhtar’s midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan. He notched up 25 goals and not only became the top goalscorer in the UPL, but also set a new performance record which still remains unbeaten. Naturally enough, it was Mkhitaryan who was recognized as the Player of the Season.

Henrikh himself repeatedly stressed that this achievement would be impossible without the help of his teammates, therefore it is logical to mention that the best assist provider was Darijo Srna (12 assists). Willian, Fernandinho and Mkhitaryan provided 6 assists each.
We managed to win fifteen games in a row, while our opponents suffered many unnecessary losses, failing to claim enough points. This lead was sufficient for us to win the title early!
Fernandinho, Shakhtar midfielder in the 2012/13 season:
“The philosophy of Shakhtar is to win every match, regardless of opponents. We had a very strong and well-knit squad, we did a great job at the training camp and were ready to start the season better than the rest of teams. We managed to win fifteen games in a row, while our opponents suffered many unnecessary losses, failing to claim enough points. This lead was sufficient for us to win the title early!”
