Marcos Antonio made his debut for Shakhtar back in March 2019 and became the 31st Brazilian in the club history

In the 2019/20 season, the 19-year-old central midfielder made 20 appearances.

Mobile playmaker

Marcos's strengths are pace and passing ability. He constantly moves, offers himself between the thirds, operating as a playmaker. Antonio tops the Ukrainian league for the average number of passes completed over 90 minutes (81.43), providing them with maximum accuracy (94.7%). Here are some of his top figures: in the away match vs Desna, only 1 out of 89 passes did not reach his teammate; in the game vs Karpaty - 3 out of 98 passes.

Marcos continues gaining experience as a rotation player. Aggregately this season, he spent 1,094 minutes on the pitch. In European competitions, he appeared as a sub late, with the most recent one being the return leg vs Benfica. In Lisbon, Antonio appeared in the starting XI in a pairing with Stepanenko, running until the final whistle; two weeks later in Wolfsburg, he played alone in the absence of Taras. In Germany, Marcos made his best appearance for Shakhtar so far by netting his first goal in European competitions (it was a crucial away goal and winning one for the team); he also made the most interceptions (7), without fouling and delivering the ball to the final third without any errors.
