Brazil U23’s friendly victory

As many as four Shakhtar players at once have been called up to the Brazil Olympic team, being the greatest number of players representing one club there. Maycon appeared in the starting XI of Brazil U23 against their South Korea counterparts. The defensive midfielder led his team onto the pitch with a captain's armband on. Tete, Dodo and Marcos Antonio appeared on the pitch after the break.

South Korea U23 got off to a better start and took the lead as early as in the 7th minute. Gradually, Brazil U23 took over the initiative and created several dangerous chances, with the opponents launching a threatening counterattack and earning a spot-kick which they failed to convert. The Yellow-Greens equalized in the 42nd minute: Matheus Cunha was the first on the ball to finish it off – 1-1. Just before the break, the South Koreans sent the second one into the back of their opponents’ net, but it was ruled out due to an attacking foul.

In the second half, the Brazilians continued gaining advantage and forced the opponents to focus on defensive play, converting their edge in the 61st minute, with Rodrygo scoring a precision goal. After a short while, Reinier finished a clinical set piece with an unstoppable 10-metre cannon shot, making it 3-1. In the 77th minute, Marcos Antonio and Tete came on as subs, with Dodo appearing on the field in the 82nd minute - so all four Shakhtar players took part in the friendly against the South Koreans. In stoppage time, Dodo earned a corner kick which ended in Tete’s targeted delivery to the near post, increasing the Brazilians’ scoring chances, but the final score of 3-1 remained unchanged.
