Shakhtar U19 hosted Lviv U19 in the Youth League round 6

The Miners scored 10 points in 5 opening games and continue competing for the top positions in the league, while the Lviv side stay in the middle of the table with 4 points. Four of Oskar Ratulutra's lads (Havryliuk, Udod, Mykytyshyn and Sholar) took part in the U21 team’s game yesterday, and today they have appeared in the starting lineup.

Early goals

The Orange-and-Blacks got off to an active start and created the first dangerous chance early (Veklenko hit the post), and in the 13th minute they opened the scoring: after a corner kick, the ball bounced off to Danyil Udod who handled it, beat a defender and fired it past the keeper – 1-0. However, the visitors reacted in the same way. Puzankov saved his side from Velychko’s attempt, and Havryliuk cleared the ball off the line after a finish. However, a minute later, Mudryi dashed to the goal and equalized. Shakhtar continued looking for chances in combinational attacks, still failing to finish them off. The Lviv team relied on set-pieces, also not managing to threat the target.

Visitors won the second half

Early second half was dominated by the Miners. Sholar's long-range attempt went wide, Maloyid coped with Bako's shot from outside the penalty area, Veklenko completed a beautiful move launched by his teammates only to see his attempt go wide. The hosts managed to regain the lead in the 60th minute: Sholar earned a penalty, and the sub Ivan Bendera converted it to make the score 2-1. The Donetsk side continued to control the situation, and the same Bendera could have netted a double, but the goalkeeper was on the ball slightly ahead of him; then Hlushchenko's dangerous attempt whizzed over the crossbar. In the 81st minute, Oskar Ratulutra's men were just obliged to extend the lead after Hlushchenko was brought down in the penalty area, but Kozishkurt’s spot-kick did not reach the target. The payback followed nearly immediately: another set-piece by Lviv was followed by an immediate delivery into the penalty area and Velychko planted the ball right inside the right corner. The hosts had a chance to snatch the victory in the second minute of injury time: Bendera sent it to midfield, Makhynia volleyed it to the right only to see Borysenko miss the far corner. 2-2 - Shakhtar U19 drew with Lviv U19.

The Miners will play their next game vs Vorskla U19 on October 24.
