Shakhtar U19 hosted Olimpik U19 in the Youth League round 4

This is the Miners’ third match this week. Previously, they defeated Zorya (1-0) and Rukh (1-0) away. The young Olympians who had not taken part in the previous season, started the league campaign with three defeats and came to Shchaslyve with the task of scoring the first points.

Starting pressure

However, the Orange-and-Blacks very quickly destroyed the visitors' hopes for a positive result. In the 6th minute, the first ball hit the back of Chervynskyi's net: Mykyta Makhynia received Veklenko’s pass in the penalty area and lobbed it past the goalkeeper – 1-0. Just five minutes later, they managed to extend the lead: Buleza, after slaloming down the left-hand side, passed the ball right to Artem Sholar who also beat the goalkeeper without any problems – 2-0. Not allowing the opponents to come to their senses, the Miners gave the score an even more lopsided look already in the 14th minute: following a free-kick and a cross from Bako, Dmytro Avdyeyev fired it inside the far post – 3-0. By the middle of the half, the hosts slowed down a bit and allowed the opponents to keep the ball, still managing to score another goal. In the 25th minute, an attack with the participation of Veklenko and Buleza was completed by Makhynia’s precision shot. 4-0 – the teams left for the break with these figures on the scoreboard.

Score-based play

Early in the second half, Shakhtar's coaching staff made three substitutions at once by fielding Ivan Borysenko, Ivan Losenko and the team newcomer Marian Farina. The visitors managed to create the first chance in the second half (Shut sent it just inches off the post), but it was the Miners who scored again. In the 55th minute, Kristian Bako converted a beautiful move of his teammates, making it 5-0. The same Bako could have grabbed a brace, but this time the goalkeeper coped with his effort. In response, Baranyuk’s long-range attempt went wide, with Puzankov confidently saving a couple of dangerous crosses into the penalty area. In the end, Farina was close to bringing Bako one on one with the goalkeeper (Chervynskyi was the first on the ball), and Borysenko's long-range cannon shot hit a defender.

The final whistle signalled Shakhtar U19's 5-0 victory over Olimpik U19. The Miners will have their next match away vs Desna U19 on October 4th.
