Shakhtar defender Valerii Bondar commented for Shakhtar News on the victory over Vorskla Poltava and weighed in on the Miners’ chances in the title race
- Shakhtar allowed them to create next to nothing near their goal. Are the team really much stronger than Vorskla?
- We were seriously preparing for the game. We really wanted to prove ourselves to the fans again after the previous games which outcomes were not what we’d expected. We wanted to get back on the winning track especially as we had tied 1-1 in the first stage. We showed all our best qualities and won it.
- You played at centre-back, Shakhtar kept a clean sheet. How would you comment on this?
- Our defenders who can play at centre-back are top-quality: Matviienko, Vitao, Khocholava. First of all, I want to thank the coach for his trust. A good result is the key to the team's success because we all worked as one man.
- Do you think you still have a chance to catch up with Dynamo in the league table?
- Of course we do. We’ve always got that chance, we believe in it. We need to win our matches and hope that Dynamo will lose points at some moment. Of course, we need to secure just wins in the remaining six rounds and wait for Kyiv’s misfire.
