The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation awarded in two categories of the IPRA Golden World Awards
Rinat Akhmetov was the first to help Ukraine in the fight against the pandemic. In February 2020, he pooled the resources of the Charitable Foundation, FC Shakhtar and other SCM assets and allocated more than UAH 450 million to help the country fight the coronavirus.
The Digital Physical Education educational series that was developed by the Foundation as part of the Fighting COVID-19 in Ukraine project has been awarded in the Sport and NGO Сampaign categories of the prestigious international IPRA Golden World Awards. We want to note that the award was established in 1990 by the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) and recognises the best communication projects in terms of creativity, strategic quality and results achieved.
Yuliia Yershova, Chief Communications Officer of the Foundation:
"The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, FC Shakhtar and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine have teamed up to help the country during the quarantine period because only together can we successfully confront the threat of the coronavirus pandemic. The result of our synergy is a unique project that will be useful to every Ukrainian schoolchild. This is a series of videos on YouTube and Instagram about the importance of remembering sports and a healthy lifestyle. Paradoxically, via the gadgets and smartphones that every teenager has, the project was able to motivate the children to look away from the screens and pay attention to their fitness. Therefore, the video tutorials will be relevant after the quarantine as well. In order to reach out to the hearts and minds of schoolchildren, we took a truly amazing step - we invited a whole “team of stars”. Those are world football stars Andriy Pyatov and Sergii Kryvtsov, as well as popular showmen Oleh Maslyuk and Yevhen Yanovych. I am sure that no other motivational project can boast such a stellar team."
Hundreds of companies from dozens of countries on all continents competed for the IPRA Golden World Awards. The Foundation and DTEK are the only representatives of Ukraine to have received the award along with companies from Qatar, Japan, the Philippines and Greece.
Andriy Pyatov, Shakhtar goalkeeper and captain:
"It was very unusual and pleasant to hear that our joint project with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has received worldwide recognition. I am sure this is a well-deserved reward because previously there were no such projects in Ukraine, everything had to be done for the first time, in the pandemic times. In general, I really like the friendship and the partnership linking the club and the Foundation for many years now. Last year, we together helped doctors fight the coronavirus, handed tests and equipment over to hospitals. I am confident that this successful cooperation will allow us to accomplish many more good deeds."
We would like to add that the project’s viewing audience on the Foundation’s digital platforms and on the national television is more than five million people. And the total audience, taking into account the users of the Diya platform and the rotation of 20 domestic channels, reached at least 26 million. All episodes of the Digital PE series have been placed on the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation's Facebook page and on the YouTube channel.
