In an interview with Shakhtar News, the midfielder Alan Patrick shared his emotions after signing a new contract and promised to score even more goals on the way to winning titles
- I am very happy to have signed a new contract and to be representing Shakhtar for another four years. This is a very special moment in my career. I want to thank the club for the trust, for offering me to extend our cooperation. I will try to delight the fans and all the club staff with my performance and help Shakhtar win new titles.
- If we go 10 years back, to 2011, when you just joined the club, could you imagine that in 2021 you would be one of the main and best players of Shakhtar?
- Indeed, I signed my first contract with Shakhtar 10 years ago. Back then, I came to the club as a very young fellow, while today I’m more experienced, I have won several titles, with a lot of matches in Shakhtar shirt behind. Now everything is completely different, but just like then, I feel very happy. My family has fully adapted in Ukraine, and I always try to give my one hundred percent on the field, to display my game in order to achieve the goals set by our club. I will try to earn more and more trust through my performance.
- You made 178 appearances for Shakhtar and scored 26 goals. Last season, you won the Goal Battle project, and this year your goal has been shortlisted again. Could you admit that your intention is to score some incredible goals and win every season?
- I am very happy that the fans named my goal as the Goal of the Year. I am happy with this recognition. I will try to score more goals and also work harder to claim victories and titles for the team. Hopefully, I will score many more stunning goals which will also appeal to the fans.
- Which of your 178 matches in a Shakhtar shirt is the most important and memorable for you?
- There were lots of matches, I remember many of them, so it’s very difficult to pick one. Of course, the Clasicos against Dynamo are special games that brought us league titles. It's always good when you win and claim titles, when you secure important victories, including those in the Champions League. These matches will remain in my memory forever.
- During this time you have gained many fans, what would you like to tell them?
- We are staying together for another four years. I promise that I will give my utmost in order to delight the fans and move towards our goals together. Shakhtar deserves it.
