Shakhtar U19 beat Oleksandriia U19 in this year’s last competitive game
Savchenko replaced the injured Farina at centre-back, and Yevhen Yanovich made his debut for Shakhtar youth team by coming on as a substitute late in the game. The former Shakhtar Academy player Minchev kept Oleksandriia’s goal.
Lack of finishing touches
Early in the game, the opposing sides set a high pace, applying pressure in each part of the field. Shakhtar U19 created their first chance in the 15th minute following a corner kick finished off by Bako, with a defender blocking it. Then Kozik and Hulko took two free-kicks from almost the same place just to see their efforts missing the mark. In the 30th minute, the visitors earned a penalty for a foul on Kapinus, with Honcharuk failing to convert the spot-kick (goalkeeper save). The hosts created one free-kick chance within the entire half when Bazaiev hit the crossbar. Honcharuk could have opened the scoring, but Danyil did not outplay Minchev one on one.
Goalscorer Bako
The teams appeared for the second half without any substitutions. The Oleksandriia players had a clear-cut chance after Bazaiev's solo run – Puzankov helped out by stopping a close-ranger. Shakhtar responded with an attack down the flank ending in a delivery by Buleza – Pohorilyi’s effort whizzed just inches off the target. Then Oleksandriia had another chance when Samar was shooting after a corner, but Puzankov excelled again. And Shakhtar responded with a goal in the 78th minute: Bako dribbled down the right flank, cut inside and shot straight into the near corner. The hosts failed to equalise until the end of the second half, with the Orange-and-Blacks securing a narrow win.
The Miners are leaving for the winter break remaining in the top place in the table. Oskar Ratulutra's side will play their next match on December 15 as part of the friendly tournament of Al Abtal Cup.
