On December 15, Shakhtar U19 claimed another victory at the Al Abtal International Cup
In the second round of the Al Abtal International Cup, Shakhtar U19 played against White Future Falcons – the team of young Saudi players. As a reminder, in the first round the Miners beat Poland’s Legia (2-1), and the current opponents White Future Falcons suffered a major defeat to Slavia Prague (1-5).
About the match
Oskar Ratulutra fielded an experimental lineup for the match, with Havryliuk at left-back and Derkach at left wing, ancd with Hluschenko in front. From the opening minutes, Shakhtar looked more active and in the 22nd minute Bako opened the scoring. Then the team continued to dominate and by the end of the first half created a couple of good chances, still failing to convert them though. In the second half, the Miners also had more initiative, although midway through the second half Tvardovskyi had to rescue his side from a long-ranger. In the 75th minute, Dmytro Kapinus burst into the right-hand side of the box, beat a few opponents and lobbed the ball past the keeper to seal the 2-0 win.
Goals: 1-0 Bako (22’), 2-0 Kapinus (75’)
Shakhtar U19: Tvardovskyi, Kapinus (Matveev 84’), Kozik (c), Savchenko, Havryliuk, Rosputko, Bako, Pliusch (Yuschenko 64’), Hluschenko, Siheev, Derkach (Yanovych 80’)
Anton Hluschenko, midfielder:
“We could’ve scored more goals as we had many chances in the first half. In the end, we managed to score the second goal and turn it into a win. It’s a very interesting tournament, with great conditions provided. And it is especially nice to play against worthy opponents in good stadiums.”
Dmytro Kapinus, defender:
“I believe we were much stronger than our opponents and we looked more confident. It’s doubly delightful to win before going on holiday. At the goal-scoring moment, I decided to take the initiative and sent it home. I like the tournament, such matches are really important.”
Shakhtar won the second game in the tournament and topped the group table. The next match will take place on January 26 against Slavia Prague.
